Not quite as good as its big brother, but still excellent in its own right. You lose the tile-laying aspect (and much of the interaction) from original Terraforming Mars, but the card play here is absolutely top notch. A fantastic engine builder!

Mix of terraforming mars and race for the galaxy.

+ mars theme is fun (though more abstracted than the original) + Card tags/requirements + calculating income on the boards is fun + art is colorful, consistent, and not bad (unlike the original) + smaller box with dual-layered boards + shorter playing time than Ark Nova or the original TM > is the experience too similar to Ark Nova or San Juan to justify a purchase? Is the "in-between" size worth it?? - tile laying on the board could have been implemented better (could have made the tiles more like Castles of Burgundy size and maybe kept some of the shared tile placement from the original) - score track is hard to read - no interactive cards from the original TM

Fun streamlined version of Terraforming Mars. I think I still prefer the original, but this is a nice variation to change things up every so often.
